This September, I'm going BLUE 💙
Last year I challenged myself with Dry July. This year I'm dipping my feet into something different — taking on Blue September to support the Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ.
I don't personally know anyone who has travelled the prostate cancer journey, and I'm not going to pretend that I do. For me, this challenge is about awareness.
As a Pacific man, I especially want to use this month to start a conversation amongst our Pacific men, fathers, brothers, uncles and matua about looking after ourselves, knowing our bodies and not waiting until something is wrong before we talk about our health.
So I've added my own fitness twist to the challenge:
💙 PUSH & PULL FOR SEPTEMBER BLUE 💙
And this time I've roped in my unicorn brother Param 🦄 to take this journey with me and help spread awareness.
739 Kiwi men are lost to prostate cancer on average each year.
Behind that number are 739 families, partners, children, friends and communities.
If our little challenge gets even one man to stop, think about his health, have a kōrero with his family or talk with his doctor, then this month has meant something.
Follow our journey, share the message, have the conversation — and if you're able to donate, every little bit helps.
For our men. For our matua. 💙
Push. Pull. Kōrero.

Push, push, push!
