Danny’s story
Why your Blue September challenge matters
“I watched my Dad die of prostate cancer, then a few months later I was diagnosed myself at 37. He didn’t talk much about his diagnosis, tried to carry on like he was OK, but underneath he was pretty down and depressed, and sadly there was little support for both him and my Mum.”
“My life revolves around my mental and physical wellbeing, and the Prost-FIT exercise programme made possible by funds raised - also funded by Dry July, provides that in spades. Not just the tailored exercise, but the fellowship and support. Whatever stage we are at in our cancer journeys, the opportunity to have a good natter over a post-class cuppa is invaluable.
I wish that level of support had been available for my Dad.
The thousands of men living with prostate cancer, at any stage beyond diagnosis, in New Zealand, are not just a statistic. Like me, they are dads, sons, husbands and best mates who deserve to live their best life beyond diagnosis.
Your Blue September helps ensure they can do.”
