This September, I’m taking on a serious challenge: doing non-stop push-ups all month to raise vital funds and awareness for prostate cancer in New Zealand.

​By the time September arrives, I will be just five weeks post-surgery after having my prostate removed. Completing this so soon after surgery will take everything I’ve got, but I’m determined. Far too many men stay silent, ignore the signs, or delay getting checked until it’s too late.

​Prostate cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Kiwi blokes, affecting thousands of families across our communities. Every dollar donated directly fuels groundbreaking research, vital patient care, and awareness campaigns that encourage early testing.

Wanted to update my journey in that I got my blood test results yesterday (18 September), I am Cancer Free following my operation.

It is over, this challenge has finished and I must admit the Blue September fundraiser challenge has been amazing.Starting from a place of not been able to exercise for 3 month's when it began I thought that a target of 793 push-ups and raising $1600 would be hard.I realized early on (by the 12th day) that I could do better.Not only did i double my target i also doubled my aim to collect donations. 

I am incredibly honored to of had the support and encouragement from my friends and colleagues, from whom I drew my determination to succeed.  They are who made this a success for me.

I would love to make special mention to my son Tristan Stowell  who has been helping me along my healing journey from both my broken leg as well as my Prostate removal.   You have been steadfast in been there and helping whenever i needed it.  Your support and dedication makes me a very proud father.  I am immensely impressed on the young man you have become.  Love ❤️ you tons my boy.

Cancer Free

Saturday 19th Sep

I got my results yesterday (18 September) following my Prostate removal, I am now Cance Free, PSA levels down from 7.63 now at 0.02.

What a great time to get this result while supporting this amazing challenge. 

Life has shown me I am stronger than I think I am.

Saturday 12th Sep

Oh man, so I walked into a local shop today and the lovely lady behind the counter says to me... "Man you are looking very excited and happy, what's up"

Though all my amazing supporters i had managed to reach my fund raising target.And...I also reached my Push-up Target of 793.

So I'm now going to really push my limits and double them both.  

My new Target for Donation is $3200, and my new Target for Push-ups is going to be 1600.

Had to put it in words so as to create the drive in myself.

Another day another chance to shine

Wednesday 9th Sep

So I did rest over the weekend, that is no push-ups but kept very busy with life.

I decided to up my efforts by sticking to the 50 push-ups per set considering I managed to finish on 50 on Friday. 

Can't believe that when I started I was planning for 40 a day and now doing 100.

Makes me wonder what I'll be finishing on daily at the end.

Oh well I suppose time will tell...

Should of rested

Friday 4th Sep

Today was meant to be a rest day.However seen as I was up early for 445 Run Club, I decided to do 10 push-ups gir every km walked, done 4 sets by the time I finished my walk.

Then just for the fun of it, seen as I was breaking my rules, done 50 to end the day.

Definitely resting tomorrow. I hope, maybe,  we'll see...

The Pain Sets In

Ok so been inactive for so long has really been an eye opener. 

My shoulders are screaming 😱 at me... WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME...

Funny how much we forget exercising can be good and painful 😒 

But onwards and upwards 💪💪💪

Man do my arms and shoulders feel it this evening.
