DIY for Prostate Cancer 2026

Moving for Men’s Health: My Blue September Challenge

73.9km. 739 Push-Ups. One Reason: Men’s Health.

This Blue September, I’ve decided to challenge myself to:

🏃 Walk and run 73.9km

💪 Complete 739 push-ups

Why 739?

Because 739 represents the number of Kiwi men who die from prostate cancer every year.

Personally, I haven’t gone through prostate cancer myself, but I have known — and still know — far too many men who have fought or are currently fighting this fight. Behind every statistic is a husband, dad, grandfather, brother, mate and a family walking alongside them.

So I took 739, moved the decimal point to make 73.9km, and added 739 push-ups.

I’ll be asking people to support my challenge by donating towards every kilometre and every push-up I complete, with funds going to the Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ.

But this isn’t only about raising money.

If it encourages one man to get checked, starts a conversation between mates, or reminds someone to look after their health, then it’s worthwhile.

I’m sure there will be days when I question the 739 push-ups! 😂 But I’ll remind myself what that number represents.

73.9km. 739 push-ups. One month. One important cause.

💙 Every kilometre. Every push-up. Every conversation can make a difference.
