TMW Blue Do

This Blue Do is personal to me as well

August 2019 was the start of a new journey in my life that I never in a million years thought I would be starting. It started with what we thought was a UTI, but later the Doctor said it was the inflammation of the prostate (Prostatitis).

This concerned my Doctor so he had me do a blood test, digital rectal exam and later after being referred to a urologist a Biopsy. The Biopsy showed a grade 1 cancer, the Doctor requested I have a MRI to make sure nothing was missed. Sure enough there was a spot that concerned the Doctor, so another Biopsy was done. This Biopsy showed that the spot was a grade 2 and I will be discussing a treatment plan with the Doctor shortly.

I'm very blessed knowing it could have been much worse. My diagnose of prostate cancer was caught early so I have a excellent chance for a great outcome.

I suspect that I've had cancer for a few years without knowing it. If I hadn't gotten sick I to would have not known, so I've learnt that it is so important to have your Doctor check your prostate yearly from 50 yrs old (if you have a family history of prostate cancer from 40 yrs old) If it's caught early it is treatable. One in eight men get prostate cancer, so early diagnosis and effective treatment saves lives. Many men don't have symptoms when they are first diagnosed.

More than 600 men a year in New Zealand die of prostate cancer each year. Encourage the men you know to get yearly prostate checks.

I've been walking in my spare time in an attempt to walk 600km by the end of Sept for my Blue Do.

I also have a Rest Home who is going to have a fund raiser at the end of Sept to Support my Blue Do

Please support my Blue Do by making a donation to my page to help NZ Prostate Cancer Foundation spread the message for men to have regular checks to fund research that will improve diagnosis and treatment outcomes and provide support for the men and their families living with prostate cancer every day.
