Push for Prostate Cancer

I'm doing push-ups this Blue September. Show your support, let's tackle prostate cancer together

This September I've set myself a fundraising challenge to help bring down prostate cancer and support our mates.

Here's the gameplan:

I smash out heaps of push-ups throughout the month to inspire you to dig deep towards life-saving research and support.

Let's tackle prostate cancer together. Donate now. Because prostate cancer is killing people in our community. It's the most diagnosed cancer for blokes in NZ.

Your support helps provide support for people affected by a diagnosis. Plus you'll be helping raise awareness so more blokes know to get tested when they need to, along with research into treating and diagnosing prostate cancer.

My Updates

(Almost) one week on...

Saturday 6th Sep

Managed to get through the week maintaining pace, knocking off 125 / day or 625 over the working week.  The body is feeling it, with the pecs tight (obviously) and the shoulders a little tight too, despite mostly going pretty easy.

The weekend plan is to do very little and let a bit of recovery happen (so maybe a couple of short bursts, but not more than two or three sets over the two days), then hit a decent number Monday as I work into a high / low model.  So after a week, the three times clocking of the challenge is looking doable.  The question is how cocky I get in the second half of the month...

3 days on target

Thursday 4th Sep

I've gotten through three days on plan A (bursts of 10 pushups, spread throughout the day, with consistent overall volume over the weekedays).  Despite trying to keep it low intensity, by the end of the day I feel the impact of the reps.  I'm going to keep up the volume through the week, then dial waaaay back over the weekend to get some recovery happening.

I think for week two I'm going to try a high - low volume model, hitting higher totals on Mon/Wed/Fri, and low to none on Tue/Thu.  Can use the weekend to pick up any slack if that doesn't work well.

Ultimately, I'm well on target to clock the 739 monthly total 3 times.  Will just be how well I recover from week one.

Gameplan and total update.

Tuesday 2nd Sep

I'm going to hit the 739 push up target multiple times (at least 3), so when you donate, consider adding more each time I clock the goal number.

Half way through day two and I just hit 200 total.
