This Blue September, I’m taking on an extraordinary challenge: walking for 24
hours straight to raise awareness for prostate cancer during New Zealand’s
Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
Why This Matters
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among New Zealand men, affecting
thousands of families across our country each year. One in eight Kiwi men will
be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, yet many men still don’t
talk openly about their health or get regular check-ups.
Blue September isn’t just about wearing blue – it’s about starting
conversations that save lives. It’s about encouraging the men in our lives to
prioritize their health and seek regular screenings. Early detection can make
all the difference.
The 24-Hour Walk
When: The last weekend of September (September 27-28, 2025)
Where: Morrinsville Recreation Park Walking Track
From sunrise to sunrise, I’ll be putting one foot in front of the other for 24
consecutive hours. Starting at Morrinsville Recreation Park, I’ll be walking
the recreation park track throughout the challenge. When the sun comes up, I’ll
alternate between the recreation park track and the scenic River Walk Track to
keep the journey varied and engaging.
This endurance challenge represents the ongoing battle that men with prostate
cancer face every single day. While my walk will end after 24 hours, their
journey continues.
The Details:
- 24 hours walking in a blue suit to show solidarity with Blue September
- Optional toilet breaks every 2 hours to maintain health and safety
- Food and drink will be consumed on the move to keep momentum going
- Night walking on the familiar Recreation Park track for safety
- Daylight hours alternating between Recreation Park and River Walk track.
Every step I take is dedicated to:
- Men currently fighting prostate cancer
- Families supporting loved ones through treatment
- Healthcare professionals working tirelessly to improve outcomes
- Raising awareness about the importance of early detection
How You Can Help
Spread Awareness: Share this page and start conversations about men’s
health with the important men in your life.
Get Involved: Join me for part of the walk, or organize your own Blue
September activity in your community.
Support the Cause: Please donate anything you can to my fundraising link
provided to help keep me accountable for this challenge. All funding raised
will go directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ to support their vital
work in research, education, and patient support.
**Encourage Check-ups:** Remind the men you care about to talk to their doctor
about prostate health, especially if they’re over 50 or have family history.
Join the Movement
Blue September is about more than one person’s walk – it’s about our entire
community coming together to support men’s health. Whether you walk with me for
an hour, share awareness on social media, or simply have an important
conversation with someone you love, you’re making a difference.
Together, we can ensure that no man faces prostate cancer alone, and that early
detection becomes the norm, not the exception.
Let’s make this Blue September count. Every step matters. Every conversation
saves lives.

Two week mark
Tuesday 26th AugKia Ora everyone,I’m still completely overwhelmed by the incredible support you’ve all shown me. It’s been exactly two weeks since I launched this fundraising campaign, and the response has been nothing short of extraordinary. My initial goal was smashed within 24 hours. The second target fell just two days later. And now we’re closing in on the third milestone – something I never imagined possible when I started this journey. This will be the final time I raise the target. I refuse to let success breed complacency, but I also want to honor what we’ve already achieved together. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Every single one of you has played a part in this, and I’m genuinely humbled by your generosity and belief in this cause. The support means everything
