I'm doing push-ups this Blue September. Show your support, let's tackle prostate cancer together

So, this is the part where I'm supposed to write my why. Why am I taking part in fundraising for prostate Cancer.

Well, I don't know anyone close to me that has had prostate cancer, but our family has been affected by cancer and serious medical conditions much like most families probably have.

That being said, I'm a male, I have two young boys, and the fact that 739 men die each year in New Zealand from prostate cancer shocked me. If I can do anything to maybe have a future where my two boys don't need to go through that battle, I'm there.

So, this September I've set myself a fundraising challenge to help bring down prostate cancer. The suggested number of push ups was 739 for the month to match the number of men dying, but I thought F*&^ it, let's make it interesting. So call me crazy (my wife already did), but I've quadrupled it. My goal for September is to do 2956 push ups.

Your support helps provide support for people affected by a diagnosis so please donate, it all helps. Plus you'll be helping raise awareness so more blokes know to get tested when they need to, along with research into treating and diagnosing prostate cancer.

Last day today, I'm pushing for 3000 today to break that barrier(150 push ups)!

Monday 29th Sep

On the home stretch now, I'm looking good for my goal of 2956 push ups. Have quite a few aches and niggles so my body is definitely in need of a few days off! As always, all donations are appreciated to help this great cause do the work they do.

Wednesday 24th Sep

Only six days to go, I can't believe it's almost done. I've completed 2330 push ups so far, 626 to go. If you haven't already donated, then get in quick, not many days to go and I'd love to be able to raise $1500. All the support so far has been greatly appreciated!

Thursday 18th Sep

After 17 days, I'm almost at the half way point of my goal, I'm feeling stronger so hoping I can get there by the end of September. I'm still having to manage rest which has been the hardest part.

Friday 12th Sep

12 days in, almost at 1000 push ups. Had a small hiccup with a sore deltoid, but I took a couple days rest, refined my technique and I'm feeling better again. Should be pretty close to 1500 by the 15th

Monday 8th Sep

Well, seven days down, 577 push ups. I'm still a bit behind schedule, and a sore deltoid is slowing me down. I'm taking a small recovery break and hopefully back at them in a day or two so I don't fall too far back.

Wednesday 3rd Sep

Three days in, I have very tired arms, I'm a bit behind my 100 a day but I'm hoping I can start increasing later in the month.

Friday 29th Aug

Only a few days to go now, I've been blown away by the support and generosity of everyone so far, so thank you all again!

I've started doing a few push ups here and there, so I'm not going into it completely cold, but I'm definitely going to have some sore arms through September! Can I count the push-ups the kids do alongside me haha?
