Push for Prostate Cancer

I'm doing push-ups this Blue September. Show your support, let's tackle prostate cancer together

This September I've set myself a fundraising challenge to help bring down prostate cancer and support our mates.

Here's the gameplan:

I smash out heaps of push-ups throughout the month to inspire you to dig deep towards life-saving research and support.

Let's tackle prostate cancer together. Donate now. Because prostate cancer is killing people in our community. It's the most diagnosed cancer for blokes in NZ.

Your support helps provide support for people affected by a diagnosis. Plus you'll be helping raise awareness so more blokes know to get tested when they need to, along with research into treating and diagnosing prostate cancer.

Whoops. I missed a day

Friday 5th Sep

I already do a lot of pushups. I use a great app called FITBOD that generates workouts for me that build strength. A single workout may involve up to four types of pushups - regular pushups, decline, tricep, pike pushups and more. So for me 100 a day is doable. Unlike my usual practice where I work different body areas while others recover, this challenge allows little recovery time.

There are ways around this though. Some days I’ll do all the pushups in sets with little rest time between. On a recovery day, I would do sets of 25 with big rests in between.

Yesterday I didn’t do one pushup. I had to leave early for work and there was no time afterward. So I figured today I would have to do yesterdays and today’s (200 pushups). By pushing out sets of 25 with at least half an hour between them, I managed it pretty well, with still enough energy for 30 tricep pushups in sets of 10.

Tackle prostate cancer together.
