Push for Prostate Cancer

I'm doing push-ups this Blue September. Show your support, let's tackle prostate cancer together

This September I've set myself a fundraising challenge to help bring down prostate cancer and support our mates.

Here's the gameplan:

I smash out heaps of push-ups throughout the month to inspire you to dig deep towards life-saving research and support.

Let's tackle prostate cancer together. Donate now. Because prostate cancer is killing people in our community. It's the most diagnosed cancer for blokes in NZ.

Your support helps provide support for people affected by a diagnosis. Plus you'll be helping raise awareness so more blokes know to get tested when they need to, along with research into treating and diagnosing prostate cancer.

Made the Double

Wednesday 1st Oct

I did it!  I managed to do the double 1478 pushups in one month.

After a little break

Monday 22nd Sep

I made the first goal of 739 pushups around the 14th September and it looked good to do the double.  Then I had a series of photoshoots over 5 days and my shoulder blades were not happy after the first hour.  So I took a break for the rest of the five days.  It has been tough to get going again. Everything that was feeling good is now really stiff and I have to average 73 pushups a day to hit the double. Yikes.

Half way through Week Two

Thursday 11th Sep

Life has been busy so I am a bit behind on my updates.  It hasn't stopped me from doing my pushups though.  As of today I have completed 550 pushups and that includes 80 today.  The benefits from consistently doing pushups has been surprising.  My shoulders, which have given me problems in the past, just keep feeling stronger. My back has stopped aching and my abs are engaged all the time now.  Hopefully this continues.

Week one done

Sunday 7th Sep

310 pushups done including 100 today.  429 to go.  Arms are tired but I can definitely feel the strength improving.

Day Three and Four

Thursday 4th Sep

As predicted, I was sore yesterday but not as bad as I'd expected.  Still managed 30 pushups.   Today I got in before the body fully woke up and did 40 more.  May have to have a day off tomorrow.

Day Two

Tuesday 2nd Sep

Did 15 pushups first thing this morning and things are still feeling good and I managed to do 15 more before the gym this afternoon.  Did more in class but as I said I won't count them toward the final goal.  And, because I get the feeling (ok, call it pain) that I might struggle a bit tomorrow, I did 30 more when I got home from the gym.  Watch this space.

Day One Done

Monday 1st Sep

30 down.So far so good. Threw in a few extra while I can and I have decided that pushups I do during gym classes won't count toward this total (mostly because I will never keep track of how many full pushups I would do verses the "sh*t I am tired" knees on the floor ones.709 to go.
