The Crack Pack

Ride for Prostate Cancer

Week 1 - Off to a strong start

Well, week one is in the bag and somehow… we’re actually off to a flyer! Between the four of us we’ve knocked out 381km, which is over a third of the way to our 1000km target already. Not bad for a bunch who thought “The Crack Pack” was a good team name.

'Mr Tour-de-Invers', Shaun Taane came out swinging with a monster 137km, clearly trying to prove age is just a number (and also that the rest of us need to harden up). Kai managed clip a clean century with a neat 100km, Barry chipped in a strong consistent 84km, and Pipi kicked us off with 60km that she covered within 2 sessions less than 24 hours apart! Not bad at all considering this is only week one!

We're actually more on pace to hit 1500kms collectively and smash the 1000km goal. The real challenge now is seeing if we can keep this momentum going… consistency may not be exactly The Crack Pack’s strong suit, but hey, miracles do happen.

Onwards to Week 2.

Let’s go team!

1,000km for Blue September

This September, our team of four at Hokonui Rūnanga Health & Social Services, proudly calling ourselves The Crack Pack, are taking on a big challenge for a big cause. We’ve set the goal of riding 1,000kms throughout September to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer.

It’s all about sparking kōrero around men’s health, supporting whānau affected by prostate cancer, and doing our bit to back the Blue September campaign.

We’ll be tracking our journey all month, so keep an eye out, share our progress, and if you can, get behind us with a donation. Every kilometre (and dollar) helps. 💙
