WANTED Blue Noggins for Blue Friday

Following up on a short, sharp, 40 minute collection through the streets of Pukekohe that raised an incredible $1500, local Pukekohe police have shaved their heads for prostate cancer awareness.

Blue Friday means Blue Noggin Day in the shadow of the Bombay Hills and for just  $200 locals today could adopt a cop, shave his head and paint it blue.

“The Force of the Police Force who got in behind it was impressive,” says Blue September coordinator Jill Bailey who provided the paint. “Only two police officers out of fourteen didn’t get adopted but they still painted their heads”

Dawn McKay was the local organiser of ‘Blue Noggin Day’ and also wanted to pay tribute to the police. “They really did get into the community spirit. It’s not all about bad stuff for these guys.”

Many locals were pleased to see something happening for men in the community and some police were adopted several times over,  raising a yet to be determined sum.

“I’ve still got collection buckets coming in and I have to sort out all my notes before the bank can count them,” Mrs McKay explained.

The day also boasted hip hop dancers, singers and a sausage sizzle
